Eliza Chung

Volunteer of the Month, July 2019

I am passionate about promoting the importance of health literacy and raising the awareness of disease prevention in our community. Through my postgraduate study in public health, I developed the ability to integrate my trilingual and research skills to contribute to population health.

  • What inspired me to become a Hepatitis Victoria volunteer?

Hepatitis Victoria’s devoted work for the marginalised communities aligned with my values. I was interested in being a volunteer to learn about strategies to co-design promotional and engagement events with the service targets.

  • One of my favourite Hepatitis Victoria sessions or moments

I was provided with an invaluable opportunity to learn from the people with a lived experience of hepatitis C. Their personal stories provided me with great insight into developing a research proposal about hepatitis C reinfection.

  • What tips do I have for new volunteers?

My best advice is to be flexible and open to different opportunities in Hepatitis Victoria. Your amazing skills will be valued and further developed with the support of your colleagues here.
